Atlético Madrid Contact Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo

Atlético Madrid have contacted Bayer Leverkusen about left‑back Alejandro Grimaldo, 30, as the Spanish club continues its search for a defender. Matteo Moretto reports the contact and notes Grimaldo recorded 14 goals and 14 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions in the 2025/26 season. Grimaldo reiterated his ambition to return to LaLiga, saying he is happy at Bayer Leverkusen but wants to play in his homeland. He first voiced the goal in August 2025 to Kölner Stadt‑Anzeiger, adding that the move could happen any time within the next five years. Bayer Leverkusen will miss UEFA Champions League football after finishing sixth, and a summer transition sees Kasper Hjulmand depart and Carles Martínez Novell take over.
