A Reddit‑crafted formula has produced a provisional ranking of the twelve leading Ballon d’Or contenders, weighting goals, assists, Player‑of‑the‑Match awards, trophies, season honours and Golden Boots to rank the field based on 2026 statistics. The list places England’s Harry Kane at the summit, while veteran Lionel Messi trails closely behind, reflecting their World Cup performances and club form.

The graphic compares their goals, assists, goal contributions, trophies, all‑competition Player of the Match awards and major individual honours. Gold, silver and bronze highlight the top three in each category. It also uses a simple weighted model – 40% G+A, 20% POTM, 20% trophies, 12% Player of the Season/Tournament awards and 8% Golden Boots – to produce a provisional ranking."

Lamine Yamal is tipped to win the award on more than one occasion, though the model naturally favours attackers, which the creator acknowledged. Rodri’s attacking output is largely disregarded in the Ballon d’Or discussion, resulting in a low score of 25.8 out of 100.

Messi, an eight‑time winner, falls just short of first place in this study, while Rodri finishes dead last. Deniz Undav scores 33.0, Luis Diaz 41.0 and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes 41.8 in the ranking.
