Camavinga suffers aggression; Real Madrid studies response

At the Camp Nou, Eduardo Camavinga faced Joan García last Saturday. The celebration of Kylian Mbappé’s second goal triggered a reaction from the crowd that culminated in a possible assault with a flag against the Real Madrid midfielder.
The Barcelona‑Real Madrid match on Sunday ended with Mbappé’s second goal, and the white players celebrated at the back of the stadium, which prompted the launch of a bottle of water and a can of Coca‑Cola from the North stand, according to the report of referee Juan Martínez Munuera. The incident was documented by journalist Jose Breton Ramón Fuentes from Madrid.
Details of the incident
The videos showed Camavinga trying to approach García when the flag was thrown, and the assault initially went undetected by the officiating crew. Fans present captured the moment, which now forms part of the investigation.
In the 87th minute, the referee activated phase 1 of the object‑throwing protocol, announced the warning over the loudspeaker and stopped the match; none of the objects hit a player. Referee Juan Martínez Munuera confirmed that the bottle and the can did not hit any player, but the protocol required the match to be halted.

Procedures and possible sanctions
LaLiga plans to file a complaint with the Royal Spanish Football Federation on Tuesday, via its weekly report, opening an extraordinary file with an appointed instructor for the procedure. The procedure will include the appointment of an instructor who will guide the investigation.
Real Madrid itself has been studying throughout yesterday the possibility of also filing a complaint, with a deadline that expires on Tuesday at 14:00. If the club decides to file the complaint, the file will be forwarded to the corresponding disciplinary committee.
If the infringement is confirmed, the usual sanction would be a fine of up to €602, although being the first time the penalty could be limited to €301, according to article 117 of the regulations. Article 117 states that the maximum fine for a minor disturbance of the match order is €602.
Thus, while LaLiga acts through the institutional procedure, Real Madrid evaluates its own action, leaving the final decision pending, which will be known this Wednesday, closing the process started by LaLiga.
