Crisis between Real Madrid and LaLiga intensifies after Vinícius ban
Real Madrid has demanded this Friday the resignation of Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, while the RFEF Appeals Committee confirms the suspension of four matches for the Brazilian Vinícius Júnior, leaving him out of the upcoming "El Clásico" which will be contested at the Spotify Camp Nou Stadium in May 2026.
Call for resignation and intimidation accusations
The Madrid club described Tebas's comparison of Real Madrid's communication strategy to the propaganda methods of Joseph Goebbels as "absolutely unacceptable" and "extremely serious". In its official statement, Real Madrid labeled the LaLiga president's remarks as "offensive, morally repugnant and institutionally unworthy" and accused Tebas of lacking neutrality, respect and impartiality.
Javier Tebas responded on X, arguing that his observation referred to repetition techniques and enemy creation, not to Nazi ideology. He added that LaLiga's position requires independence and that he must defend the competition against attacks from Real Madrid TV and its spokespersons.
Confirmation of the sanction on Vinícius Júnior
The RFEF Appeals Committee rejected the challenge filed by Real Madrid against the four‑match suspension imposed on Vinícius Júnior. The Brazilian forward, therefore, will not be able to take part in the "El Clásico" unless a new appeal overturns the decision.
Real Madrid deems Tebas comparison with Nazi propaganda intolerable
The sanction remains in place despite Real Madrid's arguments, which regarded the measure as part of a pressure campaign against the League's institution.
Context and immediate repercussions
The events come as Real Madrid prepares to host Sevilla after the comeback victory in Rome the previous Wednesday. The dispute also ties into the Negreira case, which the club has taken to UEFA, demanding a comprehensive review of the refereeing system and the federation's oversight structure.
In his response, Tebas questioned the timing of the conflict's escalation coinciding with Barcelona's break from the Superliga project, suggesting that institutional interests may have influenced Real Madrid TV's recent aggressiveness.
Real Madrid demand LaLiga chief resign after Nazi propaganda comparison
Both sides continue exchanging accusations, with Real Madrid pointing out that Tebas's comparison constitutes a repeated attack on the club's president, Florentino Pérez, and its media, while Tebas insists that his duty is to protect LaLiga's integrity against what he perceives as disinformation campaigns.
