Cristiano Ronaldo's accusation against Jorge Jesus sparks a dispute

Cristiano Ronaldo's accusation towards Jorge Jesus sparks controversy after the 41‑year‑old superstar explained in a 1,740‑word Instagram statement that he will not retire, but only wants to ask for forgiveness. He admits having left the training camp in Copenhagen and places the responsibility for that solely on himself, while simultaneously accusing his national coach.

Accusation against the coach

Ronaldo accuses Jorge Jesus of breaking his word twice: first regarding the arrangements about his involvement against Norway on September 24, and again concerning the decision not to field him in the match against Norway. The striker explains that after his departure he was no longer in the squad for the game against Denmark on October 1, because he had not been substituted in against Norway.

Apology and penalty demands

In the same post Ronaldo apologizes to the Portuguese and his teammates, but accepts any possible sanction from the federation. At the same time he demands that the consequences of his actions not be mitigated, because he is the captain and takes into account the weight of his position. According to the Portuguese newspaper A Bola, a ban of up to six months and a fine could follow.

Planned apology from the coach

Ronaldo claims that Jesus promised to deliver an eight‑point apology at a press conference, explaining that the Norwegian match was not part of the original plan. He also mentions a meeting with Jesus and Al‑Nassr sporting director Simão Coutinho, during which this agreement was supposedly made. Jesus later stated that his appearance before journalists “had nothing to do with our meeting,” to which Ronaldo responded with accusations of aggressiveness and arrogance.

The 41‑year‑old record goal‑scorer emphasizes that despite all accusations he remains available for Portugal and will accept any possible sanction. However, he warns that the dispute with Jesus is now moving to the next level of escalation, while the final decision on his return is still pending.
