Donald Trump Expected to Present 2026 World Cup Trophy
Donald Trump is expected to hand the trophy to the winning captain at the 2026 World Cup final on July 19. The ceremony will take place on the field at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. FIFA reportedly has no objection to Trump remaining on stage during the presentation.
Ben Jacobs of TalkSport reported that the U.S. president will be part of the on‑field presentation. The report says FIFA is comfortable with Trump delivering the trophy to the victorious captain.
Last summer’s Club World Cup final at the same venue saw Trump stand beside Gianni Infantino as Chelsea players received their medals. Trump helped carry the trophy with Infantino to captain Reece James and stayed as James lifted it.
James later said he thought Trump would exit the stage but the president chose to stay. Trump did not attend the U.S. men's national team’s 4‑1 win over Paraguay in Los Angeles, though he has said he will be present at the World Cup, without a confirmed match schedule.
