Felice Mazzù appointed KAS Eupen head coach for next season

KAS Eupen confirmed Felice Mazzù as its new head coach for the 2023‑24 campaign, replacing Bruno Pinheiro who was dismissed two weeks ago. The Belgian side, which finished seventh in the Challenger Pro League last season, aims to improve its standing under the experienced manager.

"Mazzù is an experienced and particularly respected name in Belgian football," the club wrote on its website. "He brings extensive knowledge of the Belgian competition and can present a proven track record in developing competitive and close‑knit teams."

Jérôme Patris will serve as Mazzù's assistant, while Damien Marcq takes the role of Technical Collaborator. Thibaut Meyer has been appointed Physical Coach and Enzo Donis will work as Video Analyst & Set‑Piece Coach, with a goalkeepers coach to be introduced shortly.

Mazzù previously managed Charleroi, KRC Genk, Union SG, Anderlecht, STVV and OH Leuven. His most notable spell was with Union SG, where he captured the 1B title in 2021.

Following that triumph, Union SG contested the top‑division title race a year later, showcasing Mazzù's ability to elevate a squad quickly.

Mazzù was named Trainer of the Year for the 2021/22 season. The accolade highlighted his success with Union SG.

Later periods at Anderlecht, STVV and OH Leuven were described as less smooth, but Eupen offers him a chance to restart his career. The appointment signals the club's ambition to aim higher in the upcoming season.

Eupen expects the new coaching team to shape a more competitive squad for the upcoming campaign, reflecting a clear intent to improve its Challenger Pro League position.
