The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) holds presidential elections today with Malago favoured to defeat Abete. Malago leads in the polls as the favourite to succeed the current president. Yamal’s record-breaking goal places him eighth in the rankings, one ahead of Messi’s tally at the same age. In club news, Juventus sporting director Giovanni Carnevali is finalising a loan deal with an obligation to buy for Kolo Muani in 2027. The move involves PSG and includes a buy-back clause that will not be exercised before June 30. The club has also confirmed the departure of its sporting and technical directors. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has expressed confidence in his squad’s competitiveness. De Laurentiis stated: ‘Strong, competitive, attractive, I’m sure we’ll stay up the top. The squad isn’t missing anything.’ Real Madrid’s Florentino Perez has set a €60 million condition for the potential sale of Fabregas. Perez’s demand comes as Cesc Fabregas attempts to convince Perez to allow Nico Williams to remain at Athletic Club for another year. Spain’s World Cup campaign continues with a 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia. Yamal scored and assisted in the match, which also featured a double from Oyarzabal and an own-goal. Uruguay head coach Marcelo Bielsa has criticised the World Cup’s four-period format. Bielsa stated: ‘Games with four periods ruin football’ and called the hydration breaks a ‘novelty that alienates supporters.’ Juventus director Michel Platini has expressed his desire to take on a leadership role at the club. Platini stated: ‘Would be a dream for him to be Juventus director.’ Platini’s comments follow a charity event in Turin honouring Mauro and Vialli.
