How Barça's rejection drove Gabriel Moscardo to PSG
Before joining Paris Saint-Germain in January 2024, the Brazilian Gabriel Moscardo, 21, had played only four matches in all competitions, but he almost signed with FC Barcelona.
A Barça approach that did not materialise
While he was still at Corinthians, the Brazilian midfielder was approached by FC Barcelona. This serious lead ultimately did not materialise because of the financial demands of the Brazilian club.
Currently on loan at Espanyol, Moscardo revealed that his father had even met Deco, now director of the Catalan club, while he was playing with the U20 side of Corinthians.
“I am very happy that it did not happen, because I was able to play more at Corinthians, develop professionally at home and then I got the opportunity to sign with Paris Saint-Germain,” the player said.
In hindsight, he does not regret the refusal of Barça, believing that staying in Brazil allowed him to progress before seizing the PSG opportunity a few months later.
