Joachim Löw cautions Germany after 7-1 win over Curaçao

Germany demolished Curaçao 7-1 in their World Cup opener, yet coach Joachim Löw warned that the dominant display should not breed over‑euphoria. Speaking to Toni and Felix Kroos during the programme “Kroos & Kroos: The World Cup Under the Microscope”, he stressed the need for greater stability.

Löw acknowledged Germany’s quality but said the squad still lacks the stability required to win titles. He emphasized that without that consistency, the team cannot secure future trophies.

He specifically mentioned that Joshua Kimmich alone is not enough, nor is goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, to secure success. According to Löw, a few more players are needed to reach the level required for championships.

Löw suggested that if Germany can remain stable, overcome resistance and maintain focus for the full ninety minutes, they could rank among the tournament favourites. He linked this stability to the ability to stay clear and focused throughout the match.

Reflecting on progress since Euro 2024, Löw praised the team’s renewed ideas, dynamism, creativity and its capacity to generate chances. He said the side now possesses a good concept and the ability to create opportunities.

He cautioned that Curaçao represented the easiest opponent at this World Cup, urging the squad not to become overly euphoric after the win. Löw warned that excessive celebration could hinder preparation for tougher fixtures.
