Jordan Bustin leaves RFC Liège for Beerschot in two-year deal
Beerschot has confirmed the signing of Jordan Bustin from RFC Liège. The defender joins the Sang et Marine on a two-year contract with an option for a further season.
Bustin, 27, arrives at Kiel as a free agent after more than a decade at RFC Liège. He made his senior debut in 2019 and went on to make 175 appearances across four seasons in Nationale 1 and three in D1B. The central defender was a regular starter under Gaëtan Englebert this season, marking his final campaign with the club.
In an Instagram post, Bustin expressed gratitude to RFC Liège’s players, staff and supporters. “After more than 10 years at RFC Liège, the time has come for me to turn an important page in my life,” he wrote. “I want to thank everyone who shared this adventure with me—the moments, the memories, the bonds. I will never forget it.”
He also thanked the supporters for their loyalty through highs and lows. “A new challenge awaits, and I’m eager to take it on,” Bustin added. “Thank you all for these exceptional years. Sang et Marine forever.”
Beerschot, fresh from promotions of Beveren and Kortrijk, is now a clear favourite in D1B. The Rats aim to regain a place in the top flight and are assembling a squad capable of meeting ambitious targets under coach Mohamed Messoudi.
The club had been linked with Genk’s Brent Stevens, a young goalkeeper, but the first official arrival is Bustin. His arrival strengthens the defensive options as the club pushes for promotion.
Bustin described the move as a proud step forward. “I’m proud to take this step. Beerschot is a club of tradition with exceptional supporters, which appeals to me greatly,” he said. “I can’t wait to get started, give everything on the pitch and help the team succeed.”
He also acknowledged his debt to RFC Liège. “I want to express my gratitude to them too. I spent seven fantastic seasons with the first team there, where I shaped my personality,” Bustin said. “The matches against them next season will be special.”
The 27-year-old defender becomes the first new signing announced by Beerschot this summer as the club builds for the new campaign.
