Jules Gaudin leaves Sporting Charleroi for Stade Lavallois after limited play

French left‑back Jules Gaudin, 26, has terminated his two‑year contract with Sporting Charleroi to join Ligue 2 side Stade Lavallois, seeking more regular minutes after only 16 appearances and six starts in Belgium’s top flight. He featured for just 50 minutes in the Europe Play‑Offs and hopes to add to his 93 Ligue 2 matches.

Before joining Sporting Charleroi, Gaudin played for Guingamp, Bastia and Caen. He arrived at the Belgian side from Paris FC in the summer preceding his move to France. Gaudin was born in Saint‑Brieuc, a city in the Brittany region of France.

At Sporting Charleroi, the left‑back featured in sixteen matches, starting only six of them during the regular season. He was allocated just fifty minutes across three appearances in the Europe Play‑Offs, a limited role that left him out of coach Mario Kohnen’s plans.

Gaudin’s departure was therefore supported by Sporting Charleroi.

Stade Lavallois, the club he joins, finished sixteenth in Ligue 2 last season, narrowly avoiding relegation. The team secured its place in the division by winning a relegation play‑off against Rouen.

Gaudin arrives with ninety‑three Ligue 2 appearances to his name, approaching the century mark. At 26, the French defender hopes to add regular playing time to his record in the French second tier.
