Kaj Sierhuis says NEC move would be interesting step

Striker Kaj Sierhuis, 28, confirmed on Thursday that he has been in talks with Dutch club NEC about a possible transfer. The discussion, revealed during the WK Ontbijt programme, comes as rumors flood the internet following reports of an agreement in principle.

Sierhuis, a forward, said the talks with NEC are real. He noted that the internet was suddenly full of speculation on Thursday.

During the WK Ontbijt broadcast, Sierhuis said, "There are of course talks." He added, "Suddenly yesterday (Thursday, red.) the whole internet was full. That does not come out of nowhere."

He explained, "Zolang er nog geen handtekening onder het contract staat, houd ik nog een slag om de arm." He added that he thinks it would be a very interesting step sportingly.

De and reported Thursday afternoon that NEC and Sierhuis have reached an agreement in principle. The striker would join NEC on a free transfer from Fortuna Sittard.

Earlier in the transfer window, Sierhuis was linked with FC Utrecht, FC Twente and Greek side Iraklis 1908. Those rumors did not materialise into a confirmed deal.

If a contract is signed, Sierhuis would continue his career in Nijmegen with NEC. Until then, he retains his option to decide.
