KNVB urges Dutch fans to stay hydrated as Houston heat spikes to 34 °C

The Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) warned Dutch supporters that Houston temperatures may hit 34 °C with high humidity before the Netherlands' World Cup group match against Sweden on Saturday at 19:00. Fans should drink one litre of water per hour, stay in shade, use sunscreen and bring a 0.5‑litre plastic bottle for refills.

The association notes that humidity will raise the perceived temperature, increasing the risk of heat‑related illness. Supporters are told to approach a staff member, steward or medical aide immediately if they feel unwell.

A four‑kilometre Oranje march will feature cooling vans, water points along the route and cooling tents where fans can cool down. The KNVB asks attendees to bring a soft plastic bottle no larger than 0.5 litre to the stadium and the FIFA Fan Festival.

These bottles can be filled at the water points distributed throughout the venue. Fans are reminded to look after one another to ensure everyone enjoys the event safely.

The encounter will be the second group duel for the Dutch side at the tournament. The match will be staged in Houston.
