He emphasized that the Sweden encounter was a World Cup group duel. “There was some pressure today, because you don’t want it decided only in the last round of matches,” Koeman said. “We did a lot of moments very well,” he continued. Yet he added that despite the 5‑1 scoreline, the team sometimes took too long to recognise when opponents changed their play. “But despite 5‑1 you also see that it takes us too much time to recognise when they play differently. It’s a fine victory, a fine result. But there were enough moments where we say: that can be better,” Koeman remarked.
