Kylian Mbappe vows defensive improvement for World Cup
Kylian Mbappe said in a Le Parisien interview that he will raise his defensive work rate for the upcoming World Cup. He added that his brother Ethan Mbappe surpasses him in pressing and that he wants to match that level. He said the work must start at this World Cup because the team aims to win it.
The French forward has recorded 86 goals and 12 assists in 103 appearances for Real Madrid. Critics have highlighted his limited offensive effort and high‑pressing as a weakness in his first two seasons. He acknowledged the criticism and pledged to address it.
Mbappe, who lifted the World Cup in 2018, expressed a desire to win the tournament again and to help Real Madrid under coach Jose Mourinho. He stressed that improving defensively is essential for the team’s success. He believes the adjustment will increase his value to the club.
