Liverpool eye Rayo Vallecano right-back Andrei Ratiu
Liverpool have confirmed interest in Rayo Vallecano right-back Andrei Ratiu, with talks already held with his representatives, 28‑year‑old Romanian international carries a €25m release clause and is viewed as a cheaper alternative to targets such as Marco Pelestra.
Andoni Iraola replaced Arne Slot as Liverpool head coach after a disastrous title defence. Iraola’s high‑pressing, fast‑paced style makes Ratiu’s profile attractive for the Reds.
Liverpool completed a £34.5m signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna, their second summer acquisition. Munoz will join Jeremy Jacquet, who arrived after Liverpool agreed a £60m deal for a Rennes centre‑back in January.
Ratiu contributed to Rayo Vallecano’s eighth‑place finish in La Liga last season. His 2025‑26 statistics show he averages 3.08 progressive carries per 90 minutes, with 2.44 of those entering the final third, both placing him in the 96th percentile.
Liverpool believe a deal around €20m could be negotiated for Ratiu. FC Barcelona are also reported to be interested, suggesting competition for his signature.
Despite his age, Liverpool have previously broken the mould by signing players like Wataru Endo. The club’s pursuit of Ratiu adds a third incoming player to the summer transfer window.
