Liverpool Face Competition for Midtjylland Defender Han-beom Lee
Journalist Graeme Bailey reported that Liverpool are competing with several clubs for Midtjylland defender Han-beom Lee this summer.
Leeds United, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion are also linked to the South Korea international.
Lee, 23, recorded four goals and four assists in 50 appearances for Midtjylland across all competitions last season.
The defender has been described as one of the best centre-backs in the Danish Superliga.
His contract with Midtjylland expires at the end of next season, potentially allowing Liverpool to acquire him on a reduced fee later this year.
A photo by Justin Setterfield captured Lee during a friendly between South Korea and Ivory Coast on 28 March 2026 in Milton Keynes, England.
Standing 1.88 metres tall, Lee combines solid tackling with effective interceptions and clearances.
He is also noted for tidy passing and the ability to win 50‑50 aerial duels.
Andoni Iraola could add Lee’s physicality to Liverpool’s defence and expect him to challenge for a regular starting place.
The South Korean centre-back is projected to help Liverpool compete across all competitions in forthcoming seasons.
Iraola is expected to intensify efforts to secure Lee’s signature in the summer transfer window.
