Mourinho blocks Endrick's summer exit at Real Madrid
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has decided to keep forward Endrick Felipe at the club this summer, despite speculation of a move, after the Brazilian returned from a loan at Lyon where he scored eight goals and provided eight assists in 21 games.
Mourinho has been evaluating his Real Madrid squad since he agreed terms with club president Florentino Perez weeks ago. His assessment has already produced four new signings and led to decisions on several existing players, with Dani Ceballos and Fran Garcia set to leave while Alvaro Carreras is expected to remain despite Mourinho's doubts about his profile.
Endrick Felipe is returning to Real Madrid this summer after completing a loan spell at Lyon in the second half of the 2025-26 season. He recorded eight goals and eight assists in 21 appearances for Lyon, marking his most productive period since moving to Europe from Palmeiras in the summer of 2024.
The Brazilian forward hopes for a better spell under Mourinho than he had with former managers Carlo Ancelotti and Xabi Alonso. Endrick will not be leaving the club again.
Mourinho views Endrick as an important option for next season, praising his physique and power. He will compete for the right‑wing starting spot, especially as Franco Mastantuono could be loaned out and Rodrygo Goes remains sidelined with an ACL injury sustained earlier this year.
Although originally signed as a striker, Endrick’s success on the right flank at Lyon suggests he could be deployed there at Real Madrid. Kylian Mbappe is expected to retain the central attacking role as the undisputed starter.
Observers will watch closely to see how Endrick adapts, given the €60m fee Real Madrid paid for him in December 2022 when he was only 16. His performance will determine whether he justifies the investment under Mourinho’s guidance.
