Mourinho's Real Madrid rebuild adds three Premier League stars

José Mourinho has begun his second spell as Real Madrid coach and is already reshaping the squad, having secured three Premier League signings – Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konaté – while eyeing a €70 million central defender, Ruben Dias. Florentino Pérez reinstated José Mourinho as Real Madrid head coach, tasking him with a complete squad overhaul. Mourinho’s brief outlines two priorities: a locker‑room clean‑up and reclaiming the La Liga crown from FC Barcelona. Last season was rife with rumours of a fractured dressing room, with reports of players refusing to speak and occasional fist‑fights. The atmosphere, according to the club’s insiders, has become a key concern for the new regime. Barcelona secured the Spanish championship in each of the previous two campaigns, leaving Real Madrid trophy‑less. Over the past decade the Royal club captured only four league titles but added five Champions League trophies and five Copa del Rey crowns. Real Madrid has already added three Premier League stalwarts: Marc Cucurella from Chelsea FC, Bernardo Silva from Manchester City FC, and Ibrahima Konaté from Liverpool FC. All three were described as “strongholds” in their respective English sides. Mourinho is also pursuing a central defender, having contacted Ruben Dias of Manchester City FC. The Portuguese club has set a €70 million asking price, while Transfermarkt values the 76‑cap international at €55 million. Midfielder Michael Olise remains on Mourinho’s wish list, a player also coveted by Pérez. Despite public denials, the club’s interest in the Frenchman appears ongoing.
