Spanish coach Óscar García has been appointed head coach of Polish Ekstraklasa side Pogoń Szczecin, signing a three‑season contract that runs until mid‑2029, with the announcement made on the club’s official channels as confirmed by the club.

On Monday 22 June Polish media reported that García was a candidate for the Pogoń Szczecin job. The club later confirmed that it had selected him as the new head coach.

García’s contract covers three seasons and extends to the middle of 2029. The agreement was announced through Pogoń Szczecin’s official communication channels.

He will be accompanied by his assistant Enrique Sanz Ramírez, who joins from Amsterdam. The Polish side highlighted that the duo will work together at the club.

"We were looking for a coach with experience at top level, a strong character, a passion for player development and a dedication to attractive, attacking football. Óscar possesses these qualities and more. His leadership, experience and football knowledge will be invaluable to build a club that can compete for trophies and represent Szczecin with dignity nationally and in Europe," said chairman Alex Haditaghi on the club website.

Pogoń Szczecin becomes the thirteenth club in García’s career. His previous appointments include OH Leuven, Stade Reims, Celta de Vigo, Olympiakos, Watford and Brighton & Hove Albion.

At Ajax García served five matches with Jong Ajax and ten matches as interim coach of the first team. His brief spell in Amsterdam ended before the move to Poland.
