Pepe says he remains available for Real Madrid
Jose Mourinho is assembling his backroom staff for his new spell at Real Madrid. Pepe has not ruled out a possible role as an assistant, saying he is always available for the club.
Mourinho seeks a figure familiar with Real Madrid who can link the coaching staff, dressing room and board. Luka Modric is being discussed as a future return after retirement, while the exact role for him remains unclear. The position would resemble the one Zinedine Zidane held during Mourinho’s first tenure.

Pepe reiterated his openness, stating, “When we talk about Madrid, I am always very grateful. You never know. If someone needs me, like today, to play and help people, I am always available for Madrid.” Mourinho emphasized the need for unity between club, fans and players to win titles again. Ricardo Carvalho is now reported as the leading candidate for the assistant role. Carvalho previously worked with Mourinho at Porto, Chelsea and Real Madrid and is currently part of Roberto Martinez’s Portugal staff.
