Rayan Boulahrouz leaves Feyenoord youth for Helmond Sport
Eighteen-year-old Rayan Boulahrouz has signed a two-year contract with Helmond Sport. The right-back leaves Feyenoord’s under-19 squad after twelve years in the club’s youth academy.
Boulahrouz, nephew of former Oranje international Khalid Boulahrouz, moves to the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. The teenager made 12 years of appearances in Feyenoord’s youth setup before his departure.
Helmond Sport technical director Dirk Jan Derksen praised the teenager’s qualities. “Rayan is a talented player with enormous drive and passion who has completed an excellent youth education at Feyenoord,” Derksen told the club’s website.
Derksen added: “Given his age and potential, we expect him to develop further at Helmond Sport and become a real asset to our club as a young talent.”
Boulahrouz echoed the positive sentiment. “Helmond Sport feels like the right step in my development,” he said. “The talks with the club were positive from the start and gave me immediate confidence.”
“I am grateful to Helmond Sport for this great opportunity,” Boulahrouz continued. “I look forward to working hard, developing myself further and becoming important for the team.”
