Real Madrid eye Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández for £120m
Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández, with a price tag around £120 million, as the club continues its summer rebuild ahead of José Mourinho’s first season back. Madrid have already secured Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konaté, with Denzel Dumfries expected to follow.
Fernández has been monitored since his days at Benfica, and Chelsea paid a British record fee to acquire him in 2023. He is currently representing Argentina at the World Cup.
Madrid’s recruitment plan also includes a centre‑back, and the club is weighing cheaper options such as West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes and Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi.
José Mourinho is described as an important backer of a potential move, and Fernández would welcome a transfer to the Bernabéu.
In April, Chelsea benched Fernández after he said, “I’d like to live in Madrid. I really like it, it’s similar to Buenos Aires,” indicating his openness to a Spanish destination.
Chelsea signed Fernández to become a core of their midfield rebuild, and selling him would generate significant funds while signalling a shift in the club’s project.
At present, Madrid’s interest remains in an assessment phase, leaving Chelsea to decide whether to demand full value or explore other options.
