Rik Elfrink: No club ready to meet €20m for Ryan Flamingo

PSV scout Rik Elfrink told the Heet van de Herdgang podcast that no club has yet made a concrete bid for 23‑year‑old defender Ryan Flamingo, whose transfer price is set at €20 million. He added that the situation suggests the player may remain at PSV for another season.

Elfrink noted that Flamingo wants to make a step up, calling it a pity if he stays. He praised the defender as one of PSV’s most important backs, highlighting his physicality and describing him as a ‘kerel’ who thrives in body contests.

This season, the 23‑year‑old saw limited involvement in Peter Bosz’s tactical plans at PSV. Bosz’s selections left Flamingo on the periphery of the first‑team squad.

Elfrink recalled that last season Flamingo suffered a bout of bad luck when Schouten occupied his position and PSV’s results slipped. He stressed that the downturn was not Flamingo’s responsibility.

According to Elfrink, Flamingo’s price tag stands at €20 million, and while interested clubs exist, none are prepared to meet that figure. He described the situation as ‘not quite finished’, implying a possible stay for another year.

Elfrink suggested the Premier League or the Bundesliga as likely destinations for Flamingo. He expressed hope that the defender will choose a club where he can secure regular minutes, noting that further developments could arise.
