Roma consider loan with obligation for Artem Dovbyk

Roma are weighing a loan deal for striker Artem Dovbyk that would include an obligation or option to buy, after the 29‑year‑old’s future became uncertain. Interest has already emerged from Spanish sides Real Betis and Villarreal, while the player is valued at roughly €23 million. Dovbyk suffered physical problems throughout last season, limiting his contributions on the pitch. These issues have raised doubts about his ability to fulfil the club’s expectations. The Ukrainian forward previously played for Girona before joining Roma. His experience in Spain adds to his profile, though his recent form has been affected. He will join the pre‑season training camp in Trigoria on 13 July, but his role in Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad remains unclear. The camp will be his first opportunity to prove his worth ahead of the new campaign. Gasperini is planning a more dynamic attacking line‑up featuring players close to Malen and possessing different traits from Dovbyk. Such a shift suggests the coach may prefer alternatives to the current number 9. Real Betis have carried out an exploratory survey, while Villarreal are also considering a move for the striker. Meanwhile, the potential sale of Sorloth will be closely monitored by the club. A loan with an obligation or option to buy could satisfy Roma’s financial requirements and appeal to interested buyers. This arrangement would provide immediate cash flow while securing a future transfer fee.
