Roma target Liverpool's Federico Chiesa for Champions League

Roma, a Champions League club, are reported to be interested in signing Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa. Chiesa, currently on Liverpool's roster, has been placed on the Italian club's shortlist for the upcoming summer window. Liverpool's 2025-26 season saw the Reds earn over £200 million in transfer fees while spending over £450 million on new signings. The club's attack was described as underperforming, with Mohamed Salah's strengths not fully utilized and Cody Gakpo reportedly not featuring. Rio Ngumoha and Hugo Ekitike were noted as exceptions to the overall disappointment. Manager Arne Slot was said to have limited Chiesa's playing time, prompting fan calls for the Dutchman to deploy the Italy international. Italian outlet La Roma 24 published a report listing Nusa, Vlasic, Tzolis and Summerville alongside Chiesa as potential alternatives for Roma. Andoni Iraola must decide whether to retain Chiesa for the 2026‑27 season, with the possibility of the player leaving if he fails to impress. Salah's departure and Jeremie Frimpong's perceived inadequacy at right wing were also highlighted as factors influencing Liverpool's attacking options.
