Liverpool halt contract talks with Alexis Mac Allister

🇬🇧

Liverpool have paused contract discussions with Alexis Mac Allister after months of negotiations failed to yield progress.

The Premier League club confirmed talks with the midfielder remain on hold following the latest round of proposals. Liverpool’s sporting director, Michael Edwards, has been leading the negotiations, which have now stalled.

Mac Allister, 25, joined Liverpool in June 2023 from Brighton & Hove Albion for a reported £55m fee. His current contract expires in June 2026, but discussions over an extension have not advanced.

Liverpool’s league campaign has prioritized securing Champions League football, with Edwards citing squad planning as a key focus. The club’s hierarchy has yet to set a deadline for resuming talks.

Mac Allister has made 48 appearances for Liverpool, scoring five goals and providing five assists. His role in midfield has been pivotal in key matches this season.

Edwards emphasized the need for clarity before progressing, stating only structural decisions will be made after analyzing all options. Liverpool’s next move remains uncertain.
