Stefan de Vrij gets Panathinaikos €3m net offer

34‑year‑old Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij faces the end of his contract with Internazionale at the close of June, allowing a free transfer. Greek side Panathinaikos has put forward a two‑year deal that would earn the defender three million euros net per season.

Other suitors include clubs from the Premier League, Turkey, Portuguese side Benfica, and several Saudi Arabian clubs, while Greek powerhouse Olympiakos also remains in the race. The breadth of interest reflects de Vrij’s reputation as a seasoned centre‑back.

According to transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Panathinaikos has entered the competition for the defender’s signature alongside Olympiakos. Both Greek clubs are reportedly preparing formal proposals.

The proposed contract would span two years and deliver a net salary of three million euros, Di Marzio reports. ‘Nu is het zaak te bepalen of de voorwaarden gunstig zijn om tot een akkoord te komen’, said the Italian journalist.

De Vrij would feel flattered by the offer, but no agreement has been reached yet. Negotiations are pending to determine whether the terms are satisfactory.

Since signing with Internazionale in the summer of 2018, de Vrij has amassed 296 appearances for the Nerazzurri. During that period he collected three Serie A titles, three Coppa Italia trophies and three Supercoppa Italiana victories.

Before joining Internazionale, de Vrij played for Feyenoord and Lazio, adding further experience to his résumé. His career trajectory underscores his status as a seasoned international defender.

No definitive deal has been concluded, leaving the summer transfer window open for further developments. Observers will watch for any official announcement from the player or the clubs involved.
