Tottenham offer Cody Gakpo contract until 2031 As Liverpool fans call for sale
Cody Gakpo, the 27‑year‑old Dutch forward who has scored 50 goals in four seasons for Liverpool, has been offered a contract until 2031 by Tottenham Hotspur, a development shared by Nico Schira on his personal X account, amid fan calls for change.
Liverpool, managed by Andoni Iraola, have seen fans turn against the Dutch forward after a series of poor outings. Gakpo entered the season as the sole left‑winger and was expected to become one of the club’s biggest creators.
He recorded six assists this campaign, far fewer than the 23 delivered by the Colombian at Bayern Munich. The lack of form has left him struggling to impress in a side that aims to compete for the Premier League title.
Roberto De Zerbi posted on his personal X account, “Roberto De Zerbi wants to sign Cody Gakpo,” signalling interest from his side. He added that “Tottenham are working and ready to submit an important bid to Liverpool.”
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly offered Gakpo a contract until 2031 and a key role in RDZ’s Project, opening talks on a move. At 27 years old, the forward could command a hefty fee if Liverpool decide to cash in.
Liverpool are linked with Bradley Barcola, Yan Diomande and Bazoumana Toure as potential replacements. Selling Gakpo could provide the funds needed to secure any of those targets.
Arne Slot’s tactical setup has not suited Gakpo’s playing style, contributing to his dip in form. Iraola’s line‑up for the first game of the season remains uncertain, adding further speculation to the winger’s future.
