Union's long-term gamble on South African prodigy Mokofeng

🇧🇪

Union have secured the signing of 21‑year‑old South African attacking midfielder Relebohile Mokofeng from Orlando Pirates, sealing a contract that runs until mid‑20230 with an option for an additional year. The move, long rumoured, was confirmed today in a statement.

Union are looking to inject fresh talent into their midfield after a successful cup campaign. Mokofeng, who featured for South Africa at the recent World Cup, offers international experience and attacking creativity at just 21.

The agreement runs until the middle of 2030, providing Union with a long‑term asset. An additional year option gives the club flexibility to extend the deal should the player adapt well to Belgian football.

Mokofeng arrives from Orlando Pirates, the dominant side in South Africa's top division. The Pirates secured a domestic treble before his departure, underscoring the winning pedigree he brings.

For Union, the signing bolsters their squad depth ahead of upcoming European fixtures. For the 21‑year‑old, the move represents a chance to develop in Europe and showcase his abilities beyond the African continent.
