City Hart scandal: Hart's response to Keane on the League
The guilty verdict against Manchester City for Premier League financial violations has reignited the debate over the club's successes. Roy Keane has urged the players of the golden era to throw away their medals, while Joe Hart replied, claiming to know the situation better than those who comment on it.
Sanctions and the period of dominance
The judgment concerned infringements committed between 2009 and 2018, years in which the Etihad side dominated domestic football. In that period City collected three Premier League titles, three League Cups, one FA Cup and one Community Shield.
Roy Keane's criticisms
The legendary former Manchester United midfielder, Roy Keane, said that the stars of that generation should “throw their Premier League medals in the bin” following the League's decisions.
Joe Hart's defence
Joe Hart, who made 348 appearances for City and won five major trophies during the period under investigation, answered Keane in an interview with Sky Vegas. He said: “Good for him. Well, you can broadcast this response if you want, because he speaks exactly how people would like. But he is not in this situation, no one has ever been, so it’s very easy to say things like that. I, on the other hand, am in it and certainly do not see it that way at all.”
