Barça blocks the talent: Brian Farinas promoted by the Masia
The club's Barcelona has confirmed the permanent transfer of Brian Farinas Pérez, sometimes referred to as Brian Fariñas Pérez, a Spanish midfielder born on 9 February 2006 in Benicarló, who will be integrated into the first team in the summer 2026 season under the guidance of Hansi Flick, wearing shirt number 4.
The path from La Masia to the first team
Arriving at La Masia from Villarreal in 2018, Farinas went through all the youth categories of the Catalan club. His development showed a steady rise from the start, culminating in winning the treble with Juvenil A.
With Juvenil A he won the Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Youth League, contributing decisively to each of the three competitions. These successes cemented his reputation as an emerging talent.
Farinas made his debut with Barça Atlètic and, after a starring season in 2025/26, was promoted to the first team in the summer 2026. The confirmation came under the management of Hansi Flick, who assigned him the number 4.
Technical characteristics and role
Standing 1,80 m tall, the midfielder is versatile and operates primarily in the centre of the pitch. He stands out for his first touch, vision of play and ability to thread himself between the opponent’s lines.
His attributes include build-up, interception and penetration, combining technique, intensity and consistency. For these reasons he has been compared to Sergi Roberto, considered an ideal profile for the blaugrana style.
